- Grade 6 Farewell to EMJ
- Last day of classes and Activity Day (June 27 with a 12:15 pm dismissal)
- How to access your child's Report Card
- Staffing Updates
- EMJ's Committment to Truth and Reconciliation
Grade 6 Farewell – June 26
The EMJ tradition of going bowling as a group followed by a gathering for families in the school gym occurs on Wednesday. Invitations were shared with all students to take home (paper), and have been shared by their teachers. The Farewell begins at 1:15 pm; the front doors of the school open for families at 1:00 pm. Please connect with your child's teacher if you have any questions.
Activity Day – June 27
- We are excited as teachers have planned an Activity Day for all students!
- Volunteers Needed: Teachers have reached out for parent volunteers to their classroom communities.
- Please be advised that all volunteers must be registered to volunteer at the school and have completed a "vulnerable sector check". Please check with your child's teacher to confirm your status.
Report Cards
Families will be able to access the Report Card from June 26 to July 26 via your MyCBE account. If you required a printed version of the Report Card please connect directly with your child's teacher.

Staffing Updates
Each year, staff have opportunities to move to other positions in the CBE. Ms. Elies-Guss and Ms. Clark have been working over the past several weeks to interview and hire people into vacated positions in the school. The updates we have confirmed this week include:
- Mrs. Watterberg has announced her retirement and this week she will say farewell to EMJ. We are excited to announce that Jennifer Chidley will be taking over in the classroom this fall. Jennifer taught this year in our EES program. Previous to this, she has extensive experience as an elementary teacher, including Kindergarten, and has vast expertise in literacy and numeracy development in young children.
- Jennifer Chidley has moved into Kindergarten and we have hired Jane Thomas into the position. Jane worked in our EES classroom from January to May this year and is excited to return to work with Shivani Katyal and our students! Welcome back to EMJ!
- Also in EES, we have seen the transition of Education Assistants. Kelly Bishop has accepted a position at a school closer to her home; and Lisa Dunn has announced her retirement. We look forward to sharing the names of our new Education Assistants this week.
- Shannon Casey, Melissa Lim and McKenzie Olson have become part of the fabric of EMJ this year. All three teachers worked on Temporary Contracts which end this week. They all applied to open postings in the CBE last week. We wish them all well in the next steps of their careers and are grateful for their impact on the learners at the school! In August, Ms. Elies-Guss and I will hire two new temporary contract teachers for Lisa Wilkinson and Paige Browne.
Lost and Found
Missing something? Has your child has returned home without something? When you are at the school at pick-up (after the 2:30 p.m. bell), please come into the boot room to check for the item in our "Lost but not yet found" area. All items not "found" this week will be donated, so please ensure you come inside and have a look at anything that "has not come home" yet.
