This week we were so happy to see all the smiling faces back at school. The energy and excitement in the building have been wonderful. Our support staff has been very busy over the past few weeks preparing for students’ return. They created engaging learning tasks, organized materials and spaces, and did an incredible job decorating our library with bright and welcoming displays. We want to extend a big thank-you to each of them for their hard work, creativity, and dedication to making our school such a special place.

Our focus this week has been re-establishing routines and getting back into learning. Students reviewed classroom expectations, practiced transitions, and have been working hard to show kindness and responsibility throughout the school day. We also completed a fire drill, and students did an excellent job following directions quickly and calmly—well done, everyone!

We are also very pleased to welcome Ms. Lindsay Pawlyna to our staff. She has joined our school to teach a combined Grade 2 and 3 class, and her students are already settling in wonderfully. We are excited to have her as part of our teaching team.

On Thursday, we celebrated Halloween at school! The day began with a lively costume parade in the gym, where students had a chance to show off their creative, fun, and school-friendly costumes. Families and staff enjoyed seeing the variety of costumes and the excitement on students’ faces. After the parade, classes spent the day participating in Halloween-themed learning activities such as writing spooky stories, math challenges, art projects, and science experiments. It was a day filled with fun, learning, and school spirit.

Looking ahead, next week we will be recognizing Remembrance Day with our school-wide ceremony. This special event gives us an opportunity to come together as a community to reflect on peace, gratitude, and the importance of remembering those who have served.

Please see the message below from Ms. Lowry, who has been working with students to prepare performances and readings for this important ceremony:

Our school will be honouring Remembrance Day on November 7th with a ceremony and a special school display. We invite families to take part in our Wall of Heroes by sharing a photo and a short description of a family member who has served in the military. If you would like to contribute or have any questions, please email your photo and information to Julie Lowry at julowry@cbe.ab.ca
