This week began with a very special visit from Sandra Manyfeathers, who joined us on Monday to share stories, traditional dances, and words from the Blackfoot language. Sandra did an incredible job engaging students of all ages. Students were not only attentive and enthusiastic during her presentation, but many also took time afterward to reflect on what they had learned and the importance of honouring Indigenous culture and perspectives. Hand over heart, Sandra — nitsíniiyi'taki.

We also enjoyed a very fun Spirit Week throughout the school. Each day brought excitement and creativity, including Festive Hat Day, Holiday Colours Day, Winter Wonderland Day, Crazy Holiday Hair Day, and finishing the week off with a cozy Pyjama Day. It was wonderful to see students and staff fully participating and embracing the festive spirit together.

Our Grade 6 students also hosted a successful fundraiser in support of their upcoming Outdoor School trip. Students were invited to purchase stickers to place on pictures of their teachers’ faces to create beards. This activity brought lots of laughter and school-wide excitement, and we are proud of the Grade 6 students for their leadership and efforts in raising funds for their trip.

As a reminder, we will be back to school on January 5, ready to jump back into learning routines. We have recently experienced a higher volume of student absences. Regular attendance is essential for student learning and success, and we ask that families notify the main office by phone or email if your child will be absent.

We would like to thank all families for your continued support and partnership. We hope everyone in our EMJ community has a wonderful, restful, and safe holiday break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in January.
